Ribbon Cutting Celebrates the Opening of the Produce Section at Teníye Local Market

September 13, 2024

Barriere, BC — The Teníye Local Market celebrated an exciting milestone by officially cutting the ribbon on its expanded Produce Section. This new section is part of an initiative to enhance local food security by providing fresh, clean, and sustainably sourced food to the Chu Chua residents and the community of Barriere and surrounding areas.

The Teníye Local Market has established a strong foundation for building a Food Security Program to create a reliable supply of healthy, locally produced food. By partnering with local farmers and food producers, the market ensures the community has access to good-quality food, supporting the local economy and the environment.

In addition to fresh produce, Teníye Local Market features local Indigenous artisans showcasing unique handmade goods. The market provides a platform for local artists and entrepreneurs to connect with the community, offering diverse products, from Indigenous crafts to local specialty items.

“We are excited to see this vision of food security come to life in our market. By supporting local growers and Indigenous artisans, we are building a sustainable future for our community,” said Paul Donald, CEO of Simpcw Resources Group.
